Behavior momentum refers to a strategy used in behavior analysis that involves starting with easy, low-demand requests before gradually introducing more difficult or demanding requests. The rationale behind this approach is that when individuals successfully complete a series of easy requests, it creates a "momentum" that makes them more likely to comply with subsequent, more challenging requests.

By beginning with easy requests, the individual experiences success and feels a sense of accomplishment, which can enhance their willingness to engage with tasks that may be more difficult. This technique capitalizes on the principle that establishing a pattern of compliance with easier tasks can effectively lead to increased compliance and motivation for more complex or demanding tasks later on.

In this context, the choice that correctly identifies behavior momentum emphasizes the importance of structuring requests to build up compliance, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of behavioral interventions.
